Atera’s Network Discovery tool is designed to help IT professionals and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) scan, analyze, and manage network environments. It provides insights into network devices, assets, and security vulnerabilities.
The Network Discovery tool scans a network to identify connected devices, including computers, servers, printers, and other endpoints. It collects details such as IP addresses, operating systems, and hardware specifications to provide a comprehensive overview of the network. We use an NMAP protocol so it will fetch the MAC address, the IP, and firmware information if it’s available, so it can identify the firmware and OS platform.
Network Discovery scanning can be performed using a Windows agent. It is not possible at the moment to run a Network Discovery scan on Mac and Linux devices.
The Network Discovery tool is available as an add-on feature, and is included in certain Atera subscription plans. Check Atera’s pricing page for specific plan details.
You can schedule automatic scans at predefined intervals or manually initiate a scan as needed. The frequency of scans depends on your settings and business requirements.
